Licensing should only be an issue if you were trying to get ZFS integrated as part of a default linux kernel. If it's "merely" available as an add-on module then there shouldn't be any licensing issues.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28660784.post-1149172914484036462006-06-01T15:41:00.000+01:002006-06-01T15:41:00.000+01:00Phase 2 of this project will be useful in porting ...Phase 2 of this project will be useful in porting ZFS to the linux kernel, since zdb is a useful debugging tool for ZFS filesystems/zpools.

However, phases 3 and especially 4 won't be of any use, since a kernel implementation would involve rewriting the whole code (the CDDL in which ZFS is licenced is incompatible with the GPL in which the linux kernel is licenced).wizemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12505131496763624859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28660784.post-1149146382409041962006-06-01T08:19:00.000+01:002006-06-01T08:19:00.000+01:00HiGreat work, will porting it to FUSE make it rela...Hi

Great work, will porting it to FUSE make it relatively easy to then create a full linux filesystem?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28660784.post-1148909294821406272006-05-29T14:28:00.000+01:002006-05-29T14:28:00.000+01:00Joseph,Matt Dillon is working on ZFS for Dragonfly...Joseph,
Matt Dillon is working on ZFS for Dragonfly BSD:

http://leaf.dragonflybsd.org/mailarchive/kernel/2005-12/msg00040.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28660784.post-1148807652070833882006-05-28T10:14:00.000+01:002006-05-28T10:14:00.000+01:00I wish you luck and will be following your progres...I wish you luck and will be following your progress.
